Reasons to convert a PDF to Microsoft Word
- by Avi Aranb
The essence of PDF file format is to allow documents to be transferred from one computing device to another without altering its rendering or content. The file format ensures that PDF documents remain unchanged across various devices they are viewed. Each element in the document is fixed in a permanent position in the document so that it cannot be altered or changed when the document is viewed on different devices.
However, when a document is changed from PDF to another format such as Microsoft Word document format, the fixed format has to be changed so that the various elements contained therein become fluid and moveable. Therefore, PDF to word converter removes the fixed format in PDF documents to make it editable. In this article, I am going to look at the various reasons why it is important to convert a document from PDF to word.
Edit the document
The first reason why it becomes necessary to convert a document from the PDF file format to MS Word format is so as to make it editable. Like you might already know, PDF file format is meant for viewing documents and not editing. As such, PDF format ensures that documents are rendered the same way on all devices regardless of the type of device. For instance, how a PDF document appears on a mac computer is the same way it will appear on a Windows 10 PC and it is the same way it will appear on a smartphone. Every element in the form of text, shape, line, and color among others appears the same way across all devices. These elements occupy the same position and take up the same amount of space. They are also un-editable.
As such, if you need to edit such a document, you have to first convert it to a format that allows you to edit, and the best format for that is Microsoft Word file format. Thus, the first reason why people convert PDF documents to word is so that they can edit them. You can edit the document as much as you want and then convert it back to PDF.
Unavailability of PDF reader
Another reason why it may become important to convert your PDF files to MS word file is if you don’t have a PDF reader installed on your computer. PDF reader is the program that is used to open PDF documents. Adobe Reader is a freely available program from Adobe Systems Company which can be used to readily view all types of PDF documents. You can download it free of charge from the Internet and install it on your computer.
Besides Adobe Reader, there are several other third party programs that can be used to view PDF documents. These programs come with a wide range of features that allow you to do so much more with your PDF documents. The basic features of these programs are usually available free of charge, but in order to use the more advanced features, you will have to pay for them.
